Well the John Kealy (aka the Quare Fella) and myself were back on the road again. This time it was a culture trip for him to The Rebel County. What I love about West Cork is the beautiful vistas (both landscape and seascape), the rugged nature and the silence!
Sheeps Head Lighthouse. Plenty of grass in the middle of the road to get to the car park which is a 25 minute walk from the Lighthouse. Fantastic views from Sheeps Head.
Sitting near the Beacon (looking right of the picture) offers a panoramic view of Carbery's 100 Isles and Baltimore bay. Unfortunately it's vast beauty does not fit into a camera and a panoramic shot just doesn't cut the mustard. Here we have a yacht entering Baltimore bay with Sherkin and Cape Clear Islands in the background.
Early morning in Bantry Bay and all is calm and quiet
Galley Head is an isolated, quiet and scenic place. The evening we were there was dull and not very promising photographically but then the clouds parted and this beautiful low golden light shone and lit up the headland against a backdrop of dark clouds. A case of being in the right place at the right time.
